Antecipando o Oscar, maior evento de premiação do cinema que está marcado para acontecer no dia 12 de março, em Los Angeles, a Academia de Artes e Ciências Cinematográficas anunciou a lista completa das produções que concorrerem à estatueta dourada em diferentes categorias.

Em uma transmissão ao vivo pelo canal do YouTube da Academia e retransmitido na ABC e em mais de 200 canais, os atores Riz Ahmed (The sound of metal, Venom) e Allison Williams (Girls, Corra!) apresentaram os filmes, diretores e produtores indicados. 

Entre os destaques, Tudo em todo lugar ao mesmo tempo foi o longa que mais recebeu indicações, contabilizando 11 no total e incluindo as mais importantes da premiação, como Melhor Filme e Melhor Diretor para Daniel Kwan e Daniel Scheinert. Logo atrás, Os Banshees de Inisherin contam com nove indicações, assim como o filme alemão Nada de novo no front. 

Por sua performance em Elvis, indicado a Melhor Filme, Austin Butler recebeu sua primeira indicação pela sua atuação, assim como Ana de Armas, por seu papel como Marylin Monroe no polêmico filme Blonde, além de Paul Mescal (Aftersun), Brendan Fraser (A Baleia) e Michelle Yeoh (Tudo em todo lugar ao mesmo tempo). Os dois últimos candidatos a representar o Brasil, o curta-metragem Sideral e o documentário O território, ficaram de fora de suas respectivas categorias. 

Alguns dos filmes mais comentados de 2022 fazem parte da lista, tal qual a animação Red: Crescer é uma fera, o aguardado Avatar: O caminho da água, Top Gun: Maverick, TÁR, Glass onion: Um mistério Knives Out e Argentina, 1985. A estreia recente de Steven Spielberg, Os Fabelmans, recebeu sete indiicações.
